Pioneer Football Ready to Open 2008 Under the Lights

The lights are ready to come up on the 2008 Sacred Heart football season come August 30th with the Pioneers hosting Assumption College, quite literally in fact. When SHU kicks-off against the Greyhounds on the newly renovated Campus Field in late August they will do so under newly installed permanent lights that will usher in a new era for Sacred Heart athletics. Dixon becomes First Pioneer to Compete at U.S. Olympic Trials

Sacred Heart track & field standout Arman Dixon (Beacon, NY) became the first athlete in school history to compete at the U.S. Olympic Trials running in the 400 meter preliminaries earlier this week. Dixon finished fourth in his heat but just missed advancing to the semifinal round at the 10-day event being held in Eugene, Oregon. [+]

Lauren DeFalco joins Pioneer WBB Coaching Staff for 2008-09

Sacred Heart University head women's basketball coach Ed Swanson announced the hiring of Lauren DeFalco as a graduate assistant coach for the upcoming 2008-09 season. DeFalco joins the coaching staff after a stellar playing career for the Iona Gaels. [+]

SHU's Martorana Wins MCPC Amateur Tournament

Sacred Heart women's golfer Joanne Martorana (Randolph, NJ) shot an 81 on the final day of the Morris County Park Commission Women's Amateur Tournament to protect a three-stroke lead and come home with her second title at the event held earlier this month. Martorana carded a two-day total of 158 to win for the second time in three years. [+]

Twelve Pioneers Named to Atlantic Hockey All-Academic Team

Senior Nick Kary was named to the Atlantic Hockey Academic All-Star team for the fourth straight year, leading a group of 12 players from the Sacred Heart men's ice hockey team who were named to the Atlantic Hockey All-Academic team, announced Wednesday by the league office. [+]
