STATEN ISLAND, NY - Juniors Phil Tantillo and Tyler Santos collected three hits and three RBI each to lead the Sacred Heart baseball team to an 11-5 win over Wagner College in the final game of the 2008 season. The Pioneers close out the year 10-18 and in sixth place in the Northeast Conference.

Santos gave SHU a 2-0 lead in the first inning when a double to right center scored Tantillo and JJ Edwards. A Santos double in the third advanced Chris Whittemore to third, who was able to score on a grounder by junior Ryan Lynch.

After Wagner got two back in the bottom of the third, the Pioneers scored three times in the top of the fourth to take a 6-2 lead. Tantillo, who would later score on a wild pitch, drove home one with a single while Whittemore plated the other with a sacrifice fly.

A four-run fifth cemented the Pioneer victory as they increased the bulge to 10-3. Edwards. Santos, Lynch and Tantillo each drove in runs in the frame.

Freshman Matt Fitton went the first 5 2/3 on the hill for SHU, allowing five runs on six hits. Chris Zaccherio finished up with 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief.
