Fairfield, CT - The Sacred Heart women's ice hockey team has announced their schedule for the upcoming season. Head coach Tom O'Malley will lead his team against some of the top prorgams in the Northeast this winter, as the Pioneers play 15 home games at the Wonderland of Ice.

The Pioneers open the season on Saturday September 27th when they visit UConn. After a weekend off, SHU makes its home ice debut on October 11th against Robert Morris College. A seven game roadtrip over the next month sends the team to Maine, Rhode Island, Syracuse, Salve Regina and Nichols College.

During the holiday season SHU will play seven of eight contests at home beginning the week before Thanksgiving when they host Hamline College November 22-23. Over Thanksgiving weekend the Pioneers entertain Union. Just before Christmas the Pioneers welcome Robert Morris to the Wonderland of Ice, and will host RIT during the first weekend of 2009, January 2-3.

A week-long trip to Southern Maine and Neumann from January 6-10 is followed by a home date with Bowdoin on January 13. Following a weekend trip to upstate New York to face Oswego, the Pioneers return to the Wonderland of Ice for a Martin Luther King Day matinee with Connecticut College, followed by a contest against Wesleyan on January 20.

SHU starts February with a trip to Pittsburgh for a series with Robert Morris. After hosting Syracuse for a weekend series, the Pioneers will close out the regular season against Rhode Island on February 21st. The ECAC Open Tournament is set for February 28th and March 1st.
